COURSE PREREQUISITES |
- Who is eligible for the course?
- Student with a personal interest to learn and understand the Qur’an.
- Students must have fluency in the English language.
- I want to join this course but I am living outside Colombo. What is the procedure to join this course?
Students are welcome to join us online.
- Can I join this course as a full-time registered listener?
Yes you can In’shaaAllah. The fee for a full-time registered listener is Rs 2500.00 per month for Sri Lankans and Rs 4250 per month for Overseas listeners.
- I heard about the course late, can I still join? How will I cover the missed lessons?
Yes, late admissions are accepted upon meeting course pre-requisites (see question no.1). You are not required to make up for the missed lessons, however in order to obtain a diploma in Taleem al Qur’an, you must make up for the missed subject lessons & evaluations when the next Taleem al Quran course begins. Please discuss with the Course Incharge for more information.

- What language is the course offered in?
English.
- Is there Hifz also in this course?
There is no memorization of surahs in this course.
- I already have a background of Islamic education/diploma/certificate. Can I skip other subjects and learn only the Qur’an translation?
No, our Diploma programs enrolment requires that a student completes all required subject tests and evaluation.

- Are there any male instructors in this course?
We often have male scholars visit the institute to give a lecture on different topics. It is a possibility to have a male instructor teaching a particular subject as part of the TQE curriculum.
REGISTRATION |
- How do I register? Can I register Online? Or by Mail?
Applicants may register via the website.
- When are we supposed to register by?
Admission Day for Taleem al Qur’an 2022 will be held on Tuesday 15th February, 2022 in’shaaAllah. Please submit your registration form at your earliest and you will be contacted further.
- What should I expect in the Test and Interview on the Admissions Day?
The test will comprise of a basic Tajwid evaluation of the student’s level of Qur’an recitation. The interview comprises of a discussion of personal interests, inclinations, goals of joining this course and commitment level of the applicant.
TIMINGS |
- When does the course begin?
The course begins on the Tuesday 8th March, 2022, In’shaaAllah.
- What is the complete duration of the course as well as the days and timings?
Course Duration: March 2022 – March 2024 (Tentatively)
Timings: Tuesday – Thursday: 9:00am – 1:00pm
- Is there a specified time each day for course instruction or can a student work at their own pace?
There is a specified time each day for the course. On-Site (Colombo) Timings are as above.
- Due to major time differences in some parts of the worlds, will the class recording be replayed at a different time?
Recordings may be accessed at any time from the student portal.
FEES |
- What is the tuition fee of the course?
Rs 5000 per month for Sri Lankan Onsite Students and Rs 5500 per month for Sri Lankan Online Students plus one-time Rs 3000 course registration fee.
For Overseas Students, it is Rs 8500 per month.
- How can I pay my fees? Cash /Cheque?
Fees are payable in cash for Onsite Stdents and Online Stdents through a Online Fees Payment Gateway Link.
- I cannot pay the fees, can I still do the course?
Financial support is approved only after a certain probation period in which student’s Academic performance and commitment are taken into account. Further inquiries to be discussed with the Course Incharge in person.
BOOKS |
- What books are we required to have?
Please refer to the Student Guide for the Booklist.
- Where can I purchase the books from?
The books can be purchased from the bookstall at the Institute.
ATTENDANCE |
- Is attendance required at a physical location to write the exam?
No, exams may be attempted through the student portal within the specified time.
- Do we get holidays for special occasions such as Eid?
Yes. Alhamdulillah. Complete list of holidays can be available from the Course Incharge.
- I have work/school commitments due to which I have to leave early, will I be allowed to leave the class early, or drop in late as a routine?
No. Missing lessons regularly as a routine will negatively impact learning and understanding.
ASSESSMENTS |
- Are there tests or exams? If so, are they written or oral?
Yes, there are different tests and assignments for different subjects. The test may be online or oral depending on the subject e.g. Tajwid has both an oral test as well as a written one.
- Is there active participation required in the course i.e., do I have to interact with instructors/students?
Yes, each student will be assigned a group. Students will do their lessons and write their tests in that group. Instructors will listen to students’ Tajwid, ask questions pertaining to their daily Tafsir lesson, and conduct various different activities related to the course material.
GRADUATING |
- In order to obtain the diploma, am I required to complete all the subjects?
Yes, the student must successfully complete all the required subjects’ tests and assignments with a passing grade in order to obtain a diploma.
Passing Percentage :-
80% for Tafsir and Tajwid
50% for Subjects
- Will diploma of this course be recognized by other Islamic schools to enable me become a teacher or use the credits of this course anywhere?
Not guaranteed.
- After learning tajwid from this course, will I have the ‘Ijazah’ [permission certificate to teach tajwid]?
No.
SERVICES AND FACILITIES For Students |
TRANSPORT
- Is transport facility provided for all students? If yes, what are the charges?
An official transport facility is not provided for all students. However, car-pooling is encouraged. Students who need a ride to and from the institute may contact the reception to arrange for a ride from their area of residence.
CHILDCARE
- Is there any facility for babies and toddlers?
Yes, we do have a childcare unit at the Institute, please contact the Course Incharge.
- Is there a proper program I can enrol my toddler in while I am also studying for this course?
Not at the moment.
VOLUNTEERING |
- Is there any service at the Institute I can volunteer for?
Yes, for further details to be discussed with Course Incharge.
STUDENTS’ GENERAL GUIDE |
- Will I be able to continue my university/school along with this course?
It is generally difficult to continue University/school simultaneously with the TQE as it is a full time intensive course.
- I have a physical condition which prevents me from prolonged sitting, can I still join? Will there be special accommodation for my condition?
This can be discussed with Course Incharge as per need.
- Are there any extra hours I’ll need to spend studying over the weekend?
Yes, Taleem al Qur’an has ongoing tests scheduled frequently, hence students must be prepared to dedicate few hours every weekend to accomplish good results. Homework is assigned in this course as in any other educational program
- Is there a uniform code?
Yes. For TQE students, a black abaya (or a black skirt and a loose black top) and a white headscarf. Head scarves are available to purchase at the bookstall.
